I wish this cute little minion could live with me!  He is adorable, don't you think? Happy birthday, Despicable Me style!

Do you wanna build a snowman (cake)?  It's Olaf!  He loves summer....and birthday parties!  Here he is in his tube and floaties livin' it up at the beach and ready to swim on over for Kelsey's party.  Until then, he's just chillin in the fridge!  Thanks to a great online tutorial, Olaf was not that difficult to make.  I think he is ADORABLE!!!

Anniversary Cake

Just finished this pretty, purple-themed anniversary cake for a customer.  Had a couple of bloopers when I turned the cake on the turntable and my knuckle bumped into the icing.  I HATE THAT!  Bleh!  Then I turned it around again to find I had bumped it into the icing bowl!   It takes a lot of effort to smooth things just so the first time, but not too hard to fix, and I was covering it with purple stars anyway.  I hope the celebration goes more smoothly than my icing adventure tonight!

GRADUATIONS GALORE

8TH GRADE GRAD CAKE

ANOTHER 8TH GRADE GRAD CAKE

HIGH SCHOOL GRAD MINI CUPCAKES....tried something new.  I made "ink" with luster dust and almond flavoring to stamp the 'M' for the fondant discs.

I think this is one of my favorites so far!
Teal rose, ombre layer cake.  SO FUN!

PINK PALACE

How could a person resist wanting to create this perfectly pink palace?  I couldn't!  Especially when I know it will light up the birthday of a special little girl and make her feel like a princess for the day!

An Honor

What do you do when your favorite teacher of all time give you the biggest assignment ever?  You say, "Yes!"  My former art instructor has an awesome son who will be inducted as an Eagle Scout tomorrow.  You have to have cake with that, right?  Thanks for including me in your celebration, Mrs. Herbster!  Congratulations to Kevan and Noah on their achievement!

Oldies but Goodies

What 5 year old in 2009 wouldn't want a Hannah Montana guitar cake?

A couple summers ago during the Olympics we were inspired to host our own
backyard family Olympic birthday party complete with a medal cake
and torch cupcake cones!

Owls were all the rage this  particular year at birthday time.

And then there was the cat phase daughter #1 went through.

Sea Turtle Dreams

Daughter #2 turned 9 last summer and her request was a sea turtle cake.  Not some baby-ish kind of thing, mind you!  Not for this one. Trust me when I say she had very high expectations!  Thank goodness for a very detailed tutorial on a Pinterest site on how to make this fella!  I think he turned out swimmingly, don't you?  We laid him out on a bed of graham cracker sand on a beach towel with some shells and rocks from one of our beach trips.  Thought I would share him tonight because he makes me feel like it is summer again!

What a Weekend!

This week has been rather busy!  I had several orders to fill, and feel like I could swim in all the buttercream I have made!  I actually woke up with a very tingly hand this a.m. due to overuse of the piping bag!  YIKES!  In addition to making several dozen cupcakes for people, I had three birthday cake orders.  Here are my latest creations!  I hope the weather cooperated so these folks could have their parties!

Thomas was Wheeshing and Whooshing to the Wasinger's house....

Another cake for the Wasinger's little man's mustache and bowtie bash...

Here is the cake after the All-star
birthday boys' nicknames were added.
This stack of sports balls for an 18th birthday party - that basketball will
go down as one of the most time consuming things ever!  LOTS OF DOTS!!!

And some cupcakes to boot!

Happy Birthday....That's No Bull!

I have AWESOME friends who challenge me!  This was SO MUCH FUN to create!  My beef-producing hubby even got in on the experience with questions about head shape.  He just wasn't seeing it when it was a lump of cake with other lumps of cake stuck on top of it with skewers and frosting for mortar, but I think what I saw in my head ended up on the cake!  He's almost too cute to eat!

Thanks, MH,  for asking me to help make your cowboy's birthday extra special - and praise Jesus he only wanted the head!
I wasn't sure how to make an anatomically correct cake!

By the way....wouldn't everyone like to make fence out of frosting?  It is much easier to carve your initials in icing than wood!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Cake

If you are my age, you well remember Saturday morning cartoons with your little brother, watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  It is such a plausible idea that turtles living in the sewers could be doused accidentally with toxic waste and turned into mutant fighting ninjas, right?  Of COURSE!  And even more believable that they would speak surfer lingo - DUUUUUUUUDE!  Anyway, I digress.

Here is the cake version - neither mutant, nor toxic.  I hope the 5 year-old who celebrates with Michaelangelo, (or whatever the blue turtle's name is) has a very awesome birthday!

A Cake Named Steve

Hi!  My name is Steve and I can't wait to party with R.A. and his friends today!

And my little ladybug friend is all boxed up and hoping to wish a special 2- year-old a happy birthday tonight, too!  (She just needs to find her antennae first!)

When a classmate's sister called to see if I would help surprise my old friend by making her little boy's first birthday cake, how could I say no?  Being one is a Blast!

The Cake Doc is in, and your in luck! If you need cake, I'll fix ya up!  A Doc McStuffins cake with matching sugar cookies for a little cutie.  Hope this fixes her birthday right up!  It was sure fun to make!

My Little Birthday Boys: 2 Boys Born 3 years and 2 Days Apart!

This kid is all about the Green and Yellow!  He could care less about counting, or learning ABC's!  He claims he won't go to Kindergarten because he is a FARMER!  Little Farmer, I hope when your daddy actually needs your help you are still so willing to want to be a farmer!  Something tells me you will!             Love ya, Mr. 5 Year-old!

Our tradition is to start the kids' birthdays with a pancake breakfast in bed.  Love the bed head!

Little Brother loves to farm, too!  See how he plowed into the icing before the party?  He's into everything...
...see what I mean?  You know it's going to be a year full of two-someness!
